12-Year Heat Exchanger Warranty – Dux Water Heaters
Contents
It’s the start of what you can expect from this Australian manufacturer of hot water services, 12-year warranty on their heat exchangers. DUX is well known in the Adelaide market for both electric storage mains pressure hot water cylinders and its gas fuelled appliances both in storage and continuous flow models. The fact that they are Australian made has perhaps given them a little soft spot for home and business owners who are looking to support local businesses.
Starting off at a minimum of 6.1 stars of energy efficient continuous flow heaters DUX pride themselves on the delivery of affordable hot water for there consumers. There are currently two different styles of instantaneous systems which are manufactured by DUX today and they are as follows:
Condensing
As manufacturers they are always looking for ways in which they can improve their products and make it more efficient for the end user to operate. The condensing range of water heaters uses 2 heat exchangers. The first is known as the secondary or pre-heating exchanger made from stainless steel and the second is known as the primary heat exchanger made from copper. The concept of this operation is that the heat used from the primary chamber rises and contributes to the heating of the water further up inside the unit. By doing this it enables the water to already be warmed up before reaching the primary exchanger where the water is topped up to the desired temperature before exiting the unit and dispensed via a faucet. By doing this manufacturers can push the energy rating of there systems up to nearly 7 stars of energy efficiency. Amazingly the overall size of the systems does not vary in width only slightly in length of just 80mm, in most cases this would never interfere with an installation.
Non-Condensing
Probably the most common form of continuous flow water heater used in the market today by all manufacturers is the non-condensing or conventional style of power flue heaters. These systems use just the 1 heat exchanger (the primary made from copper) and operate efficiently still achieving just over 6 stars of energy rating. The reason that these systems are so common is firstly they are kept in stock by majority of reputable hot water dealers such as us and secondly the pricing is competitive due to such high turnover and the simplicity of its technology.
Say good bye to the Endurance range
Prior to the condensing range of water heaters DUX were using another model called the Endurance, Endurance Plus and Endurance Premium. This models came in 4 different sizes starting at 16 litres and went all the way through to 32 litre model (4-unit sizes in total) all compatible with propane and natural gas fuel sources. Today there are still some of these models in operation throughout the plumbing market and old stock may still be in some shops, but they are no longer being manufactured. Depending on the issue you might be experiencing with your DUX Endurance hot water service we may still be able to repair it as we have managed to keep a range of the parts over the years when decommissioning old systems and through acquiring parts during their life span of manufacturing.
